The Instrument of Profitable Companies - Pick A FreightBrokerage Factoring Company  Instead Of A Regular Bank Funding

How to Enhance Money Flow Without Loaning -Cash Money flow is one of the primary reasons companies fail.

At one time or another, every company, even effective ones, have actually experienced bad cash flow.

Money flow does not have to be a problem any more. Do not be fooled -- banks are not the only locations you can get financing. Other options are available and you do not have to borrow money. Exactly what is trucking factoring ? One option is called truck factoring. Trucking Factoring is the process of offering accounts receivable to a financier instead of waiting to collect the cash from the customer. Oh, the Irony- Trucking factoring has a paradoxical difference: It is the monetary backbone of numerous of America's most successful businesses. Why is this paradoxical ? Since staffing factoring is not instructed in business colleges, is rarely mentioned in business strategies and is relatively unidentified to bulk of most of American company people.

Yet it is a financial procedure that releases up billions of dollars every year, allowing thousands of businesses to grow and succeed. Staffing Factoring has actually been around for thousands of years. Invoice Factoring Businesses are investors who pay money for the right to get the future payments on your invoices. An unpaid receivable or invoice has value. It is a financial obligation your client has agreed pay in the near future. Factoring Principals--Although factoring offers exclusively with business-to-business transactions, a big portion of the retail business utilizes a factoring principal. MasterCard, Visa, and American Express all use a form of factoring in their retail deals. Utilizing the purest definition of the word, these big consumer finance business are truly simply large Staffing Factoring Companies of consumer paper. Think about it: You purchase at Sears and charge it to your MasterCard. The shop gets paid practically immediately, although you do not pay up until you are ready.

For this service, the credit card company charges Sears a fee (typical common normal charges range from 2 to four percent of the sale). The Benefits Trucking Factoring can provide many advantages to cash-hungry companies. Rather than wait 30, 60, 90 days or longer for payment on a product that has already been delivered, a business can factor (sell) its receivables for cash at a little price cut off the dollar value of the invoice. Payroll, marketing efforts, and working capital are just a few of the business requirements that can be satisfied with instant  money.

Accounts Receivable Factoring offers the ways for a producer to replenish inventory and make more products to offer: There is no longer a need to await for earlier sales to be paid. Receivable Loan Financing is not just a money management device for producers: Practically any type business can benefit from Accounts Receivable Factoring. Generally, a company that extends credit will have 10 to 20 percent of its annual sales tied up in invoices at any given time. Think for a moment about how much is tied up in 60 days' worth of invoices: You can not pay the power bill or today s payroll with a customer s invoice, but you can sell that invoice for the cash to satisfy those responsibilities. Using trucking factoring companies is a quick and simple process. The factoring company buys the invoice at a price cut, usually a couple of percentage points less than the face value of the invoice.

Wagner Truck & Haul have been operating their business since the mid 1980s. They've delivered goods for nearly every major industry in the nation and for 20 plus years, business was booming as they've traversed the country in all weather for all clients. During the boom times from 2002 to 2007 Wagner Truck & Haul was the mastermind of a top-rated accounts receivable in the trucking industry. Very few customers were behind on their bills, and those customers who were late turned in their overdue payments within an acceptable time frame. Cash was flowing and times were good for all.It was just one year later, in 2008, when the economy in the United States took a sharp decline, and both large and small businesses started to notice the squeeze on their pocketbooks: everyone had suddenly gone silent. Business slowed down. Worse still, it was noticed by Wagner in early 2008 that even though most of their loyal customers were on time with their payments, there were a few late bloomers who were starting to spread the disease. And as spring turmed to summer and summer into the early days of fall, Wesley Pearson, CEO of Wagner felt a chill go down his spine whenever he would look at the weekly A/R reports. There was a growing list of clients who now owed them back debt.He had gone to his administrators and asked them what the problem had been. Were they doing something wrong or different when it came to reaching out to delinquent accounts? By his bookkeepers records, this wasn't the case. He thought perhaps that he was losing clients to a competitor who offered rock-bottom prices with little to no guarantee of quality performance, and that the folks who owed Wagner money had jumped ship and decided to leave him holding the bag.

. They could not afford to pay him their debt, but they could afford a lesser service, maybe. But after doing the cursory research for this and talking to friends in the field, he found that alas, no, customers of Wagner hadn't gone elsewhere. The had just gone!.This current state-of-affairs was causing Wesley Pearson to have some very restless nights. There were goods to ship, employees to pay, trucks to repair and maintain, and continuous overheads that were very extensive when compared to the funds (or lack of) that were incoming. After work he would confide in his wife, Dolores, and neither were unable to stop the constant worry over the lack of funds.""Lin, I have a really bad feeling,"" he would say with deep woe.""Well, what do you think it is?"" she would say.Wesley would stare off for a moment and then close eyes. He could see the fleet of trucks he had purchased over the years. He could see them traveling, bringing goods to all of his clients. But somewhere, a haze would form over his fleet and the vast number of vehicles would disappear to but a few. What could cause this ultimate death spiral of business?""I know what it is,"" said Wesley. ""For way too long I've been relying solely on profits received from invoices. For too long I've been allowing our clients to let their accounts become overdue."" Dolores would look at her husband lovingly, and holding his hand would say 'it is such a harsh economy these days and our clients must be having difficulty meeting their responsibilities'.""Wesley knew his wife meant well, but he knew that he was responsible for too many people to sit idly by, waiting for the sun to peak over the clouds. The following day Wesley walked into his office with a spring in his step, determined to call each and every client who owed money to Wagner Truck & Haul. This wasn't really a very efficient way for a Chief Executive to spend his day, and Wesley knew he should be overseeing all the other sides of the business, such as shipments and deliveries, approaching prospective customers, or working with his sales team. Even though he was doing something to help his company, he knew he had folks on salary to do just this thing. A waste of time - a waste of money - he had the best intentions, but all the while Wesley was realising just how much trouble he was in.Poor Wesley spent the whole morning trying in vain to contact his debtors: they promised to call back, dodged his calls, or made small interest-only payments. He was beginning to feel quite despaired when his secretary knocked on his door.

""Wesley, can I have a word?"" she queried, standing in the doorway.

""Of course Geraldine, please come in."" Wesley relaxed back into his chair and looked up at Geraldineerley.""Well, I did a little searching this afternoon and tried to figure out a way out of this mess Wesley."" She opened up a folder she had been carrying and pulled out a small wad of papers, placing them on the desk in front of him.""Have you ever heard of factoring?"" Geraldineerley asked.""It sounds vaguely familiar. What is it?"" he said.""Well,"" she began, ""Its actually quite simple really.

Basically, factoring invoices means that we would get paid immediately for the loads we haul.""Immediately?"" Wesley interrupted.""Yes, immediately,"" she continued, ""In a nutshell, it is pretty easy. We start by having a professional account manager review our figures and help us set up a company profile. Included in the profile would be the investigation of our accounts receivable aging reports, our current customers' credit limits etc.. In addition, factoring will assist in determining our customers' creditworthiness, independent from their credit relationship with our company. Its a broad view.""I see, Wesley said. And then what?""Well, after their review, and were approved for a factoring contract, we can negotiate terms and conditions. You'll be surprised at the amount of flexibility, all dependent upon the credit histories and business volume.

This company tells us what the cost will be to purchase factoring for our accounts receivable. Once we arrive at a mutual agreement, the funding begins.Wesley leaned forward and reviewed the paperwork closely.""I do not know, Geraldine - it just sounds too good to be true"", Wesley said quietly.""Yes, I know; that's exactly what I thought at the beginning. But think about it, Wesley: they've guaranteed that experts will do all the paperwork, and that will free us up to do what we should be doing - focusing on our customers in good standing, and that kind of stuff. They appear to be very flexible, Wesley,"" she underlined a paragraph on the paper before him.""Just how flexible?"" he asked.""They personalize the factoring rates so that the amount they are willing to take on is commensurate with our needs and our clients debt. It only takes 2 to 4 days for this to be figured out. ""That sounds pretty good, seeing as we tapped ourselves out with bank loans last year to repair the fleet and money sure is tight. it is imperative that we keep the business rolling as usual, and every day we go unpaid we are getting closer and closer to dealing with some serious issues in both the short term and the long term,"" Wesley said.Wesley took in a long slow breath, then looked at his secretary with something like hope in his eyes.""Precisely. This could very well be the answer to resolving the problems we are having with these clients who still owe us money.""Wesley thought about this and agreed with Geraldineerley. The customers who were in debt to Wagner Truck & Haul were professional resources of the company, but they were also long-standing friends. Wesley wasn't prepared to lose these relationships just because they were having financial issues at the moment. Wesley knew only too well that the whole economy was floundering, and that it was not going to change overnight. That unknown amount of time could create a disaster situation for both of them if he wasn't careful in how these debtors were handled. Of course he did not want to lose any more money, but he did not want to lose business either.""Let me go over this tonight Geraldine, and thankyou."" Geraldine nodded, stood up and left the office feeling that she had helped her employer keep on his shirt and hers too.Wesley sat behind his desk and looked over the details Geraldine had not mentioned in their meeting. What other issues could freight factoring help Wagner with? With his pencil gliding down the sheet he noticed that the factoring company could help fray the cost of fuel with fuel discount cards and fuel advances. In fact, Wagner could receive up to fifty-percent cash advances upon load pick-ups. As a man who hated binding contracts with no room to breathe, he was pleased to see that this factoring company would not make him sign a long term contract, would not make him pay any sign up fees and there was no minimum volume required.""I must tell Daniel the good news,"" muttered Wesley to himself.Daniel is Wesley's son-in-law, and he really admired the ideas behind Wagner, so much so that only two years before he had started his own transportation service business. Wesley knew then what struggles Daniel would face but he encouraged him nonetheless. With the economy the way it was, if an established company such as Wagner was struggling then the little guys, like Daniel, were going to be in even more trouble. But, an antidote may have been found in freight factoring and Wesley was soon to find out.A few short months later, after completing the application process, having the legal experts review his credit history, accounts receivable, and statements, finally Wesley was beginning to find his way out of the hole his debtors had created for him. They took on reasonable factoring purchase contracts and stopped spending their precious man hours scrambling to collect debt. They used that time to refocus their efforts in being competitive in new territories. Wesley looked back on the dismal months of life before freight factoring and almost shuddered at the thought. He probably wouldn't be in business today had he not learned just in time about freight factoring.

Factoring in the Future of a Trucking Business: A Story Louis Sanders let the phone ring on his desk. His morning coffee cooled and his cigarette smoked away in the tray: Louis is thinking, and pondering the biggest decision he's ever had to make for his trucking business. Sanders Trucking Company had reached a turning point and he now had to make a decision as to whether he should sign up with a factoring company, and indeed if this would be a good or regrettable decision for his business.

More than forty years ago Louis's father had started this business working as an owner-operator and eventually growing Sanders Trucking Company into a fifteen trailer fleet. There had been some hard times when it seemed everything was going to go under and even Louiss mother strapped herself into a cab to make hauls. His father had lived long enough to witness the price of hires drop during the recession and watch the eruption of fuel prices afterwards. But now things were different: the company was in Louis's hands and he needed to ensure that this business would be left in great shape for his sons.

There just never seemed to be enough money to go around, and certainly no spare cash, but to move his company successfully into the future he needed a steady and reliable cash flow. His employees needed to be paid. They all have families and the usual household bills. Some of the refrigerated trailers were in need of repairs and he felt to stay competitive it was also a good idea to invest in specialized haulers to be ready for the constant requests he was getting for loads of new energy and agriculture equipment. Every time he had to turn down a request, Sanders Trucking looked weak in a very strong market.

He knew what his father would have said - 'wait, take your time before adding new technology'. Louis chuckled, thinking about his father. He remembered when his father was totally against installing GPS units in the cabs. His Dad would say ""Why on earth do you need some stranger telling you to get off the exit that everyone knows has been there for years? Also his father had the habit of teasing all the drivers he caught switching into automatic even though driving in automatic was much more efficient though not manly in his fathers eyes. He knew his father's days were long gone and new technology was very important for the business, like having Qualcomm to reduce communication time for bills of lading.

Louis knew he was right in his forward thinking. How would he take Sanders Trucking to the next level? More importantly, how could he afford it? Business funding was tied up in fuel bills and the mortgage for the garage and office. He just finished paying off the small bank loan for installing satellite radio in the trucks for the guys.

He wondered about factoring - was this the answer for him? If he was being honest, he did not really understand how it all worked. It sounded a lot like ninth grade algebra which just didnt feel like it belonged as part of the trucking business. Factoring companies buy your invoices and manage your accounts receivable for a certain percentage of the invoiced amount. In return, the factoring company pays the trucking business straight away, providing immediate cash flow for the business to pay staff, purchase fuel, and do any repairs or maintenance. Without the assistance of factoring, you have to wait for customers to send you the payment which is often 30 days late. During those thirty days the trucking company cannot pay its employees and bills with invoices.

Now it was time for Louis to do his homework. Louis had heard that there were companies that charged for same day money transfers and would only advance a percentage of the money owed to your company while holding the rest in a private account if they didnt get their bill payment within 60 or so days. Worse still, if the customer defaulted on payment, the factoring company takes it out of the money supposedly coming to you! Through the grapevine, hed also heard about how some companies suddenly slipped you onto a sliding scale of percentages even if you had already signed a lengthy contract for maybe 3% or 7% so there you are with 10% coming as a cost to you out of the freight bill. His friend Ronnie who had a trucking business in Missouri, was run nearly into the ground by a factoring company that charged him the full freight bill on top of the factoring fees. He knew he would have to be very careful if he was to avoid any of these shady companies?

However, it all turned out to be very simple. All the factoring companies he researched were open about their business practices and very friendly on the phone when he called. Their customer service actually knew things about their company and spoke in nice clear English so he could understand what was being explained. He didnt mind signing an exclusive contract. He liked the idea of a long term commitment so he knew he wouldnt have to bother going back and forth to different companies and wasting time filing more forms. He was not charged for a credit check, and in addition he was offered a fuel advance on the pick-up of a load. In fact there were a few companies who offered him a non-recourse factoring program, and this was exactly what he had been hoping for. He was more than happy with the figures he was offered in percentage terms on the freight bills. It was good money.

For Louis it was quite a relief to be dealing with the factoring company. They were extremely helpful and more personable than the bank staff. It seemed as though those bank people spoke another language, but these factoring guys knew the trucking business and spoke to him like a client, not like a beggar for a handout. The factoring companies were not interested in his credit nor the financial problems his father had experienced in the past. All the factoring company was interest in was the credit of his customers and on their reliability: this worked great for Louis because he and his father had created a very strong and loyal list of clientele over the years. So he knew they would understand when the factoring company contacted them for the invoices. His clients would not have any problems, nor would they think poorly of Sanders Trucking, because the factoring companies handle themselves in such a polite and professional manner, similar to the way his father had managed the business in the past.

Louis stepped out of his office to let his secretary know to expect the arrival of the factoring contract shortly. There was a new bounce is his step now: he knew instinctively that this new step would raise the future of his company to a new and higher level, and that all the stress from the past could now be put behind him. He suddenly realized that, with this new cash flow, he could actually expand Sanders Trucking Company and who knows, move into Canada, which had always been his dream. His heart felt full knowing his sons wouldnt have to worry about money because of the right decisions he had made for their trucking business.

So, this is not a loan? asked Jack Bailey, reclining back into his chair and crossing his legs. The woman sitting across the desk from Jack smiled at him, shaking her head. Not quite, she said.Jack was the owner of a small trucking company which had fallen on some hard times recently. Certainly the trucking business can be an extremely profitable venture, and for many years it had been that way for Brian. His company was called Mcdonald Trucking, named after both of his grandfathers, Greg and Reginald. They had both been hardworking men, and had done a lot to make Jack the same.Six months ago disaster struck Brian's business when two out of his fleet of fifteen trucks were taken off the road.

One was a roll-over and ended up in the trucking graveyard: the other was involved in a serious and costly accident. The financial security of Brian's company relied on his full fleet on fifteen being on the road, and missing two trucks was just devastating . In addition, he just did not have the available cash to buy a new truck, plus repair the other one.Paying of bills in the trucking industry is always a major cause for concern for businesses.

Waiting a month or longer for bills to be paid was quite normal. This system works okay as long as no problems arise, but if they do, then things can get quite sticky.Jack wasnt a bad owner, and he hadnt messed up. Certain events had occurred that he could not possibly have predicted, and now he had to find a way to protect his business and prevent it from ultimate devastation. And that's why he found himself across the desk from this woman. Her name was Bessie and she worked for a factoring company. Jack had come across her company as he sat in his office late one night, pouring over the internet for some solution to his problem long after his employees had gone home. She sat there now, and explained. Its not a loan, we purchase your accounts receivable. We arent giving you money to be paid back later, were buying something from you, and you can buy it back when you can. This is a win-win situation: we are protected from a total loss, and you're protected from the ridiculous fees and charges you'd have to pay if you borrowed from a bank.Jack nodded. It sounded perfect - perhaps too good?.The woman laughed. I'm not sure that you believe me, she chuckled.Oh no, I do: it just sounds too good to be true. I thought I was going to lose my company.Bessie smiled, agreeing. We get that a lot. Listen, Id hate to see you lose your company. We know how hard you work, and that you've invested everything in your business. We all need help sometimes. That's why we do what we do.""In any case, thank you for coming to see me.""No problem - I'm just down the road. We normally do it all online but I was happy to come and visit you today, Bessie said with a smile. Lets see what we can do to help you.And with that they set about making a profile.

Jack completed the form, with Bessie offering advice as needed.

The profile filled Bessie and her company in on Brians company, and would help them determine if he was suitable for factoring. In truth, not all companies were. Some businesses are beyond the help of a Factoring company, while other businesses weren't in enough financial stress to warrant it. Listening as Jack filled out his form, Bessie was pretty sure he was a perfect candidate for factoring. When the form was done Bessie took it and slid it into her briefcase. She then stood, reached across the desk and shook Brians hand. He also stood up, and they smiled at each other. They said their goodbyes and Jack walked her to the door, and then returned to his office. All his staff members were there, all seven who worked in his office. Sitting behind his desk once more he could hear the familiar sounds of his office workers going about their daily business. He leaned back and closed his eyes. He felt so drained: he had been flailing helplessly for so long, he just knew his business was going to collapse and probably take him with it. Talking to Bessie though, learning about factoring, it felt like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders. He sat back in his chair and ran a hand through his graying but still thick black hair. All those long, sleepless nights. The terrifying panic attacks that occurred regardless of where he was. Already he could feel all the stress start to drain away. He knew it wasn't over yet and that there was still a way to go, but he could just feel everything start to change for him. He was still here; he knew this was the right path for him, and he felt proud that he had taken the appropriate steps to sort out his problems.Jack couldnt help but think back to when he had first started the business. At twenty-two and straight out of school he had opened a restaurant. It had been successful. Offering home cooking in his own hometown, his business had really prospered. But he had gotten bored. His passion didnt lie with the food industry. He thought about it for a long time, then decided it was time to sell his restaurant. He took half a year off, and in that time he thought to start Mcdonald Trucking. And that's exactly what he did. Once again he built a company from the ground up. He had been successful. Then disaster! The two trucks went down and suddenly his success wasn't looking so guaranteed. He was about to turn fifty. He didnt think he had it in him, to save this company. But giving up wasn't part of his personality either.

Just the thought of shutting down, cutting his losses, laying off his workers - the whole thing made him physically sick some nights. He didnt know how to say quit. And now, because of factoring, he was sure he wouldnt have to. Brian's eyes opened, he sat forward in his chair and turned on his computer. He had lots to do. There would be plenty of time later to be thankful, but for now it was time to get back to work.

Bank Loans

Bank loans are an extremely traditional way for a business to get financing. While these loans are handy they are not available to every business. For example, a fairly newly established business simply may not have the assets to readily get a loan from a bank, even if they do, the standard collateral for a business loan is the business itself, which means that if you cannot make your loan payment, you risk losing your entire business. Plus, the amount you apply for through the bank is the actual amount that you are going to receive. Of course, once that loan has been re-paid, you can always re-apply for another loan.

Trucking Factoring Companies

Trucking Factoring companies do not offer loans, and you do not go into debt when you get money from a Trucking Factoring company. Rather the financing you receive from a Trucking Factoring company is based on money your business has already earned, but have not yet received. Trucking Factoring companies actually purchase your accounts receivable or at least part of them for a percentage of their total worth, Normally around 80%-95%. The amount of finance you can receive will be based on the amount you have earned and the accounts receivable you are prepared to sell. Once you have set up Trucking Factoring account it continues as long as you wish it too and the amount of money available to you even can grow as your business grows, giving you the ready cash you need to meet your own obligations.

Benefits of a Trucking Factoring Company Vs. A Bank Loan

While not every business can take advantage of Trucking Factoring account financing (you have to have a business that has account receivables) for those that can use this type of financing there are several distinct benefits.

1. You will not Incur Debt. You do not incur debt as you do with a bank loan because the Trucking Factoring company actually purchases your accounts receivable. This has many benefits including the fact, that this type of financing will not affect either your business credit rating or your personal credit rating. In the event that your business fails, you would not have to be concerned about someone coming after your personal or your business assets in order to pay off a loan. The debt goes onto your credit report with a bank loan, with only one missed payment adversely affecting your business credit: it would also affect your ability to secure insurance, and may reflect on your personal credit rating as well.

2. There's no collateral required. Another benefit of using a Trucking Factoring company instead of a traditional loan is that you are not required to provide collateral to the Trucking Factoring company in order to secure financing, because the company buys the accounts receivables; not loans you money based on them. Plus, the state of your credit rating is not an issue; however the Trucking Factoring company will run a credit check on your clients whose accounts receivable are being offered for financing. This means that it is easier for new businesses to access the finance they need through a Trucking Factoring company, providing their accounts receivable are in good order. A bank may believe you haven't been in business long enough to be able to cover this risk.

3. Receive Your Money Faster. Using a Trucking Factoring company means that you'll get the finance quicker. Once the Trucking Factoring company assures itself that the customers in your accounts receivable are likely to pay their debt, the money is usually in the account within 24 hours. With a bank, there are vast amounts of paperwork, then the loan has to be underwritten, which can take months before you actually see the loan if it is approved.

4.You receive interest up-front. Unlike a bank loan that continues to build interest that you have to pay the entire time you have your business loan with a Trucking Factoring company, you do not have to continue to pay interest as they take it right off the top, deducting it from the total amount of accounts receivable. So you do not have to worry about monthly loan repayments, and you do not have to worry about the amount of interest payable, because all the money in the account is yours to spend.

As you can see, there are several benefits that makes considering financing through a Trucking Factoring company over a traditional bank worthwhile. However, there are also a couple of other benefits that a factory company can offer your business is far beyond the scope of the bank. The most important benefits is that once you sell your accounts receivable to the factory company, you do not have to take time away from running your business to collect the money owed from reluctant to pay customers. The Trucking Factoring company takes over that chore, since it is now their money to collect. Trucking Factoring companies are very good at collecting these debts, saving you the time and effort that you need to devote to your growing company.

In addition, since the Trucking Factoring company evaluates the credit quality of your customers prior to purchasing the accounts receivable you gain valuable information into which customers are likely to pay and which ones are not so likely to pay.A Trucking Factoring company is not the only method of gaining access to finance for the running and growing of your business, however it does offer a financing option well worth considering.
